To prepare you for your arrival below we have included some tips on how to prepare and what to pack. This information is also included in the Welcome Packet linked above.

Before Camp Begins

Contact the Camp Director if you need any assistance or pick-ups at the Santa Barbara Airport, train stations or buses. Any special arrangement should be made by July 1st. Camp Staff will be ready to pick you up and bring you to camp.

Should you need to arrive a day early due to flight schedules (especially east coast based campers), we can arrange to have you stay in a Tropicana Gardens room. An approximate fee of $75 will apply, which includes meals, and can be directly paid to Tropicana Gardens.

Arriving at Camp:

Registration and arrivals will begin at 1:00pm on Sunday, July 15th at Tropicana Gardens (directions below). We ask that every camper arrive before 2:45pm unless something has been prearranged. Commuter campers will also register and arrive between the hours of 1:00pm and 2:30pm.

Departing Camp:

Check out for camp will begin at approximately 11:00am on Thursday, July 19th. Again, any arrangements to be taken to an airport or train must be arranged before July 1st so that we can ensure the proper organization of everybody's travel schedules.

 

TRAVELING TO CAMP

Planes If you are traveling to camp via plane, please make your arrangements to arrive and depart out of SBA. Our staff will run pick-ups and drop-offs as necessary. If you fly into LAX there is a shuttle run by the Santa Barbara Airbus (approx. 2 hours - $45 each way). We will be able to pick up campers at the Airbus drop-off location.

Trains For those arriving by train we ask that you arrive and depart from the Goleta Station. This is approximately 3 miles from campus rather than the 15 miles to the Santa Barbara train depot. Our staff will run pick-ups and drop-offs as necessary.

Automobiles From the South: Take the Ventura Freeway (101) north. Exit at Los Carneros (it is past the UCSB exit) and turn left towards the ocean. Follow Los Carneros until it dead-ends at a stoplight on the corner of Los Carneros and El Colegio Road. Turn left on El Colegio Road. Turn right on Embarcadero Del Mar (the first stoplight). Make your second right into the Tropicana Gardens parking lot. You may enter Tropicana Gardens from the parking lot through the rear tunnels.

From the North: Take the Ventura Freeway (101) south. Exit at Los Carneros and turn right towards the ocean. Follow Los Carneros until it dead-ends at a stoplight on the corner of Los Carneros and El Colegio Road. Turn left on El Colegio Road. Turn right on Embarcadero Del Mar. WHAT TO BRING

Workout Gear

  • Watch, Water Bottle, Workout clothes to last you 8 practice sessions, Swimsuit, Morning/Night gear: morning summer beach fog is routine, a jacket, sweatshirt, tights, etc. is recommended. Nights get chilly with ocean breeze – pants, sweats etc. is recommended.
  • Running & Training/Practice Shoes. You may bring flats and spikes, but they are not required.

Toiletries

  • Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Shampoo, Soap, Deodorant, Sunscreen, Comb, Brush, Any other toiletries you may need

Living Supplies

  • Sleeping bag & pillow or bed linens (twin size). Bedding may be provided by Tropicana Gardens for an additional $25 (price subject to change), Beach sandals, Beach Towel, Bath Towel
  • Laundry is available and is coin-operated
